Legacy & Leadership: Standing Tall in Faith

A Divinebod Foundation Summer Experience

June 2026

Legacy & Leadership: Standing Tall in Faith Event Flyer

This June, The Divinebod Foundation invites families, youth, and community members to stand beneath one of the most powerful symbols of American leadership — the Washington Monument.

Towering 555 feet above the nation's capital, the Washington Monument stands as a tribute to the character, military leadership, and statesmanship of George Washington. Constructed of marble, granite, and gneiss, it remains the world's tallest free-standing stone structure and one of the most recognizable landmarks in the United States.

But this experience is more than a tour — it is a moment of reflection on leadership, perseverance, vision, and faith.

The Story Behind the Monument

Plans to honor General George Washington began as early as 1783. However, like many great visions, the monument faced significant delays — political challenges, lack of funding, and even the Civil War brought construction to a halt when it stood only 150 feet tall.

Decades later, construction resumed under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Due to a change in quarries, the monument has a distinctive two-toned marble appearance, representing not just architectural history — but resilience.

It was completed in 1884 and dedicated on February 21, 1885, just one day before Washington's birthday.

A powerful reminder: Great legacies are built through endurance.
